    Volunteers Needed

Volunteer Kamloops is a non-profit charity supporting community volunteering.

Kamloops Daybreak Ribfest: Ribfest volunteers needed from Aug. 9-13. Volunteers needed for the Kids Zone play area for children and families, rib-runners to serve and bus tables, as well as various duties such as parking. Looking for a commitment of at least one four-hour shift. T-shirt, coupons and snacks provided.

The Shayla Rae Dawn Driver Memorial Bursary Fundraiser: Looking to fill a variety of positions for mature and positive people for Saturday, July 14, to set up and tear down event, manage booths, paint faces and handle cash. Silent auction volunteers will help with the art setup, oversee bidding and the collection of bid sheets.

Big brothers Big Sisters of  Kamloops & Region: Special-event volunteers needed for July 12, July 19 and Aug. 16 at Riverside Park to assist with setup/take down, concession, activity booths and garbage cleanup. Looking for volunteers who enjoy working with the public and willing to represent our agency.

ASK Wellness: Event volunteers need for the AIDS Walk for Life, Sept. 22. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, hand out water, direct walkers, hand out information, setup and cleanup.

Volunteer Kamloops: Are you interested in working with people with disabilities and have your own vehicle? We are looking for an early riser to co-ordinate a local paper delivery route. This is a maximum four-hour commitment for Thursday mornings with training provided. For more information, contact Edith Farrell at 250-372-8313 or email edith@volunteerkamloops.org.

Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association: KTRA has experienced severe flooding this year. Because of the damage caused by the flooding, we are hoping to recruit more volunteers to help us out with the cleaning process. We expect the water to have receded enough for us to be able to do a good cleanup before the middle of August. It will take another month after that point for the water to be gone completely. If you are interested in helping, contact Masami Herman at 250-554-3811 or ktravolunteers@gmail.com.

Open Door Group — Garden Gate Program: Looking to fill a variety of volunteer positions for the SAGE Project (Senior Action Team for Gardening and Education). The goal is to provide food security for individuals who may typically be marginalized.

Simply The Best Thrift Store: Volunteers needed for a variety of positions, including electrical technician, customer service representatives, merchandise cleaner, collectibles/ antique researcher. There will be hands-on orientation and training available to all volunteers

The Seniors Outreach Society: Good Morning program volunteers will call seniors as a daily check on their well-being and as a friendly call each day. Volunteers make the calls between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Monday through Friday. If the client is unable to be reached, then an emergency contact person, arranged in advance, or a staff member will be called to check on the well-being of the client. Emergency steps will be taken if necessary. Friendly visitor program volunteers provide friendship to seniors in the community through regular visits and/or phone calls.
