The Tk'emlups Indian Band has lost a second member in less than a week after a 64-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on West Shuswap Road Friday night.
Kamloops Rural RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said in a press release Saturday the man was hit by an eastbound vehicle just after 10 p.m. The driver stopped several hundred metres away at a private residence.
Emergency crews rush the injured man to Royal Inland Hospital, where he died.
A search by police found the vehicle, which was seized. But the driver was not around.
Just before 4 a.m. Saturday, a family member found the driver and took him to the RCMP detachment, where he was held in cells before he was scheduled to appear before a justice of the peace later in the day to face a charge of dangerous driving causing death.
RCMP have reports the 31-year-old driver had been drinking, but how much is still under investigation.
Both men are members of the Tk'emlups Indian Band.
Last weekend, 29-year-old Jesse Seymour died after being stabbed by another man in a fight. His funeral had just been held Thursday.
