Police Briefs: One person hospitalized after car hits pole

RCMP are investigating a crash that sent one person to hospital when a car collided with a lamppost at a Sahali intersection early Sunday morning.

Fire and Rescue assistant chief Rob Chalmers said crews were dispatched to West Columbia Street and McGill Road just before 3 a.m.

A Chevy Cobalt was turning off McGill onto Columbia when it hit a post. Chalmers said firefighters pried open the passenger's door and one person was taken by ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital.

Chalmers didn't know the nature of the injuries. Media reports suggest the passenger was not badly hurt.

    Pair spotted stealing batteries

RCMP are on the hunt for two men driving a windowless pickup after 25 to 30 batteries were stolen from the Logan Lake transfer station.

A witness saw a man in his 50s and a male in his 20s load the batteries into an older model Mazda truck with a black canopy and no windows early Sunday morning.

The older man was driving. He has tattoos on his left bicep, is bald, of average build and is about five feet eight inches tall. The passenger has a slim build.

An RCMP press release said theft of batteries and scrap metal is an ongoing problem in the community. Anyone with information is asked to phone Logan Lake RCMP at 1-250-523-6222 and Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
