Kids from ages five to 15 can learn to skateboard for free on Wednesday at an enclosed mobile skate park complete with rails, ledges, ramps and flat bars to practise on.
The LRN2SK8 program, put on by Disney XD and West 49, will be stopping at the Aberdeen Mall parking lot as part of a 40-stop tour across Canada.
LRN2SK8 is a one-day educational event that gives kids skateboard instruction and an introduction to skateboarding culture.
The skate park includes a street course with obstacles.
It’s a great opportunity for kids to get skateboarding experience in a supervised and safe area.
There will be prize give-aways as well.
There are three sessions: from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., from 12:30 p.m. until 2, and the final one running from 3 p.m. until 4:30.
Helmets are mandatory and both helmets and skateboards will be available for use during the program.
