Commercial construction has pushed this year's construction values beyond 2011's numbers.
City building statistics up to the end of July show the entire construction-value tally at $118 million so far this year, compared with $98 million at this time last year.
Commercial works were more than double from 2011, reaching $63 million as of July 31, compared with $29 million.
Residential building, however, is down from one year ago, at $49 million for the first seven months of this year compared with $64 million in 2011.
