Ever wonder how to attract the right kind of bugs to your garden? How about non-chemical ways to enrich your food-producing soil?
Tonight, urban organic gardeners are invited to share their wisdom and learn new and innovative ways to create the best produce without pesticides.
From 5:30 to 7 p.m., the same people who introduced the organics category to the Beautify Kamloops garden contest are organizing a sharing of expertise at the Smorgasbord Deli.
"Come join other like-minded gardeners at this no-host event to share ideas about organic gardening," said Noreen Pankewich.
Among those in attendance will be the winners of this year's organic gardening Beautify Kamloops category, David and Elaine Sedgman.
Participants can expect to hear about a multitude of practices including:
- Water conservation practices
- Beneficial insect attractants
- Innovative gardening ideas
- Non-chemical methods of enriching soil for food/plant production
- Composting/mulching
- Companion planting
- Crop rotation
- Natural pest control
- Food production
