Numerous questions remain over just what happened when a group of tubers was nearly run over by a speedboat Sunday evening.

"There are still a number of things they need to figure out about this incident so (police) will be speaking to people further and trying to clarify exactly what did happen," said RCMP Sgt. Fran Bethell.

Three middle age Kamloops women were floating on tubes in the Thompson River near Pioneer Park at around 6 p.m. Sunday when a 20-foot Malibu Wakesetter came speeding toward them.

One shaken woman reported having to duck to avoid being hit and lost a set of keys and a cellphone.

After the near miss, the boater reportedly brought the women aboard, dropped them ashore and left. And that's when police were called.

Police reported unspecified minor injuries, which required the women to briefly go to Royal Inland Hospital.

The boat was located and the driver "spoken to," said Bethell.

Police continue to investigate the incident as a possible offence under marine safety regulations.
