    Thrift stores offer special deals

Some of the thrift stores in Kamloops will be selling things even cheaper than usual Friday.

It marks the first annual national thrift store day in Kamloops, a tradition started in the U.S. that the Thrift Seller Hospital store at 146 Victoria St. wants to carry on.

"With so many stores to choose from and thrift stores being so popular, we hope that it will be a successful event and grow over the years," said store spokeperson Sophie Therrien.

Plans are to offer all clothing for $1 and sell everything else for 50 per cent off, between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The New Life Mission's Thrift City will offer 10 per cent off everything in the store at 342 Seymour St.

At Simply the Best Thrift Store (662 Seymour St.), which is run by the Kamloops Society for Community Living, shoppers can fill a grocery bag full of clothing on Friday for just $2.50.

Other Kamloops thrift stores have yet to confirm participation.
