An RCMP officer and a few Good Samaritans came to the rescue Sunday after coming across a deer in danger of drowning.
At around 3 p.m., Logan Lake RCMP Cpl. Kathleen Thain noticed the deer stuck in the mud and water of Mamette Lake.
It was thrashing but unable to get out.
"It's unknown how long the deer was stuck, but it was very tired," said Thain.
Thain went to the nearest ranch for help, which happened to be the Rey Creek Ranch between Merritt and Logan Lake.
After hearing the about the animal, ranch owner Gord Garthwaite rounded up his crew and headed out to the lake with rope and boards to lay in the mud.
They tied it up and pulled it out without injuring the deer, said Thain.
"Once the deer received a good face wash, it was left to rest, recover and return to the wild."
