    Kamloops invited on triathalon bid

Organizers of an international triathlon held in Penticton for three decades have approached the City of Kamloops to see if it is interested in putting together a bid.

City administrator David Trawin said Ironman Canada organizers recently spoke with officials in the parks and recreation department.

An event spokesman recently told a Vernon newspaper that shortlisted communities include Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Whistler and Vernon.

The report said Penticton is entering into a new partnership with another triathlon group and parting ways with World Triathlon Corp., which owns the event.
