The Mission Hill bullding that sat half-constructed for several years is on the cusp of final approval from the City, with units soon on the market.

"We're about to launch the marketing campaign," said Jay McMartin, president of Brentwood Developments.

"The building is complete. We're just waiting for final certifications and approvals from the City."

Those approvals are expected within weeks.

"We've been careful not to roll it out until everything is in place. The building is done and everything is ready to go."

The first phase of what is intended to be five apartment-style buildings was originally sold out within hours in 2007, before financial problems hit the New Future Group, owned by Kamloops developer Mike Rink.

Buyers started getting back deposits on the first and second buildings in 2010, after Rink couldn't close on deals because units weren't ready for occupancy.

The mortgage company made loans to New Future Group but took back the project in December last year after creditor protection ran out. Brentwood was brought in to complete the building and is also overseeing marketing.

A sign went up outside the building this week advertising availability of a show suite.

"I think we're priced aggressively," McMartin said. "Interest rates are still low and it's attractive to first-time buyers."

McMartin said pricing ranges from one-bedroom units starting at $170,000 to those at the top end for $335,000. That compares to $199,000 and $335,000 when the units were first pre-sold five years ago.

A second partially complete building is slated next for construction. McMartin said what happens there will depend on sales of the first building.

"We're in discussions with the City on building No. 2 and a program to put forward."
