The month of August will go down as hotter than normal and dry, but it won't quite knock off any records.
Temperatures were near normal for the first couple of days, and then the heat was on with above normal temperatures through to Aug. 22.
Last month's hottest day was Aug. 5 with 37.8 C.
The hottest day on record for August was set in 1998 when the mercury rose to 39.8 C.
The average daily high last month was 30.5 C - above the normal of 27.8 C. And the average daily low was 14.4 - above the normal of 13.2 C.
On the precipitation side of things, it was dry with the exception of one really wet day on Aug. 23. Significant rainfall brought 8.8 millimetres to the airport with 10 to 15 mm over the southern sections of the city.
There was only measurable precipitation on one other day during the month with 1.2 mm on Aug. 6. The month's total precipitation of 10 mm was 34 per cent of the normal of 29 mm.
However, the year to date's total precipitation of 215.3 mm is still above the norm of 181.8 mm.
