Head of Venture Kamloops gives notice he's leaving

The head of Venture Kamloops is stepping down after three years in charge.

Dan Sulz sent an email to VK staff Tuesday morning saying he was giving five months' notice that he would be leaving the executive director's position.

Coun. Nelly Dever, who sits on the Venture Kamloops board, hadn't heard the news late Tuesday afternoon. But she checked her emails, and found one from board president Paula Presta confirming Sulz's pending departure.

"I haven't heard a thing. All I know is they were looking at some interpersonal matters. And we have a board meeting on Monday," she said.

She then read from Presta's email that stated Sulz had tendered his resignation. In it, Presta noted Sulz had been at Venture Kamloops for three years and solidified its role in the community.

"He's looking for a new challenge and it was his decision to tender his resignation," said Dever. "We are going to begin recruitment for a replacement as soon as possible."

"I've met with Dan several times. He's extremely ambitious. I can see him wanting to move on to bigger things. He's got so much energy and so much talent."

Mayor Peter Milobar said he's not on the board, but he had heard some talk about potential personnel changes at Venture Kamloops.

"But I haven't anything official," he said.

"I would be hesitant to get too into detail, I'm not on the board. I just know there had been some discussions about possible changes around the board table."
