A CBC vehicle near the First Bank Building, which will house the station.

A CBC Kamloops website and blog are up and running with an official announcement expected Monday on when the city's bureau will launch.

At that time the host of the CBC Kamloops morning show will also be revealed, said Lorna Haeber, director of programming for CBC Radio in B.C.

Those who want to hear the news first hand are encouraged to tune into Daybreak Kelowna after 7 a.m. Monday, she said.

"You'll get a fairly significant update on what is happening," she said.

The station's official website — cbc.ca/kamloops — went live this week with an accompanying blog and pictures showing construction of the studio and offices in the downtown Bank of Montreal building.

The bureau at 218 Victoria St. includes a small office space, lunchroom, washroom and soundproof announcer's booth where the morning show will originate.

Haeber said opening a new outlet has been a fun and exciting process.

"We're just so looking forward to getting on the air," she said.

It was confirmed last month that the four-person bureau includes two former CFJC-TV personalities, anchor Rob Polson and reporter Doug Herbert, and Josh Pagé of CBC Regina.

The bureau was first announced last year as part of the Crown corporation's commitment to upgrade regional services, but doubt was cast over the plans when significant financial cuts were brought down in the federal budget in March.

In April, the CBC said its expansion into Kamloops would be delayed six months in the face of staff cuts and other changes, including closure of some foreign bureaus.

Local listeners will tune in to CBC Kamloops on 94.1 FM, which currently broadcasts out of CBC Kelowna.
