Aug. 26. marked the 18th. year the Kamloops Fish and Game Club have been taking the Kamloops White Cane Club fishing at Lac le Jeune. 

This is not just a day of fishing!  The Fish and Game club arrange licenses for the day, supply the boats, bring hamburgers, wieners and all the fixings, cook the meal and serve it to everyone. 

The Kamloops White Cane Club is a group of visually impaired CNIB members who are very active in the Kamloops community.  They have several trips a year, we just had one to Hat Creek Ranch for the day, bowling, lawn bowling, lunches, and other social activities. This group has now grown to over 40 members and the main event of the year is the fishing derby. Prizes are given for the most fish, the largest and the smallest. 

Dubs, one of the original fishing members, was on hand to be sure everyone received their shirt and hats.  Several of the wives assisted their husbands with getting the lunch ready, and we also had a very helpful young lady who took pictures of the winners with their fish.  This year we had approximately 50 WCC attend including family and volunteers.

I am writing this on behalf of the Kamloops White Cane Club to express our heartfelt thanks to the Kamloops Fish and Game Club for donating a day of their time, bringing their boats and treating every WCC member with extreme kindness.  Thank you for giving us a day we remember for years and thank you for the past 18 years.
