A forest fire five kilometres southeast of Falkland is causing chaos on Highway 97A as flaggers help navigate drivers through road crews and equipment at the Highway 1 junction to Monte Lake.
The 15-hectare fire had stopped growing by Monday morning and was not endangering people or structures, according to RCMP.
But firefighters were still actively working to contain the blaze by building firebreaks and undertaking hot spot suppression.
Meanwhile, drivers were warned to expect delays as vehicles were slowed to 50 kilometres an hour through the section of highway.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to a Shuswap Emergency Program advisory.
