The long-term goal of a K-to-12 school at Sun Peaks is now a reality thanks to ongoing fundraising and donations from municipal councillors.
Maria Cannon, president of the Sun Peaks Education Society, said Wednesday the society has raised about $68,000 for the school's operation since the start of the year.
The amount includes $30,000 donated by the resort municipality's councillors, she said.
The Kamloops-Thompson School District took over operation of the resort's K-to-7 program at the start of the school year. Cannon said the society has expanded the school to Grade 12 and the funds raised guarantee its continued operation.
She said the money helps pay for a full-time teacher and support distance learning provided by the school district's @KOOL program.
