Aberdeen Mall, Cooper's Foods and the Kamloops Food Bank and Outreach Society have joined forces to put a turkey dinner on family tables this Thanksgiving.
But the community's help is also needed, said Trish Baldwin, Aberdeen Mall's manager of marketing and specialty leasing.
Cooper's and the mall will supply the turkeys, but ask Kamloops residents to pitch in and provide fixings that will make the meal complete, she said.
A drop-off location will be set up at the lower entrance at Aberdeen Mall from Monday, Sept. 17, until Sunday, Sept. 30. Baldwin asks people to bring canned, non-perishable food items like canned soup, instant mashed potatoes, powdered gravy and dressing mix. The items will be passed on to the food bank.
"We can all make this a special Thanksgiving for families throughout Kamloops and the surrounding area," she said.
