Philosophers' Café begins a new season Tuesday with a topic that zeroes in on the beginning of a new school year — Public Education: Who pays for it, who benefits from it?
Sponsored by the Kamloops chapter of the Council of Canadians, the event takes place in the Smorgasbord Deli at 225 Seventh Ave. at 7 p.m. Philosophers' Café is held the third Tuesday of each month. It is free and open to the public.
Nathan Lane of TRU Students' Union will briefly introduce Tuesday's topic and open the floor to anyone to voice an opinion, with moderator Bob Gamble keeping everyone on topic and respectful of others.
Over the last seven years the Café has explored ideas such as: The debt owed to First Nations, the legalization of marijuana, and genetic modification of food crops.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and need not feel any pressure to speak.
