The Chase Heat has enjoyed an excellent start to its KIJHL regular season.

The Heat, which won five games in 2011-12, its inaugural season, picked up two weekend victories to open the 2012-13 season.

Chase defeated the host Revelstoke Grizzlies 3-2 on Friday, before topping the visiting Spokane Braves 4-2 on Saturday. The Heat is scheduled to play host to the Grizzlies on Friday, before heading to Sicamous for a game with the Eagles on Sunday.

Spencer Samuel and Dylan Ossman scored for Revelstoke, which got 37 saves from Conrad McMillan.

Fidanza, a rookie from Kamloops who will turn 16 on Oct. 13, scored two more goals Saturday. Catlin McLeod and Connor Venne also scored for Chase.

Reece Forman had two assists, and Mattes, a 19-year-old Kamloops native, made 41 saves and was named first star for the second straight night.

Bobby Larue and Matt Thurston scored for Spokane, and Mitch Tyson and Keegan McHenry combined to make 27 saves.
