    Broncos' comeback falls short

The Kamloops Broncos made an impresside second-half run, but couldn’t come all the way back in a 48-41 loss to the Westshore Rebels in Victoria on Sunday.

The loss leaves Kamloops 1-5 in the B.C. Football Conference. The Broncos are tied for the last playoff spot with the Okanagan Sun, against which Kamloops will play Saturday in Kelowna.

After a rough first half, the Broncos had one of their best second halves of the season against Westshore — Kamloops was down 34-7 at halftime, and trailed 41-7 early in the second half.

The Broncos cut the lead to 48-27 after three quarters, then kept charging in the fourth quarter. The Broncos got to within a touchdown with 1:21 remaining, but couldn’t recover an on-side kick and the Rebels ran the remaining time off the clock.

In Saturday BCFC action, the Sun lost 44-28 to the visiting Vancouver Island Raiders, while the Langley Rams dumped the Huskers 45-7 in Chilliwack. The Raiders and Rams are 5-0-1 and tied for the lead, while Westshore  (5-1) is third and the Huskers (0-6) are last.
