Kamloops will celebrate its sporting community and the fifth anniversary of the Tournament Capital Centre on Sept. 29.

Festivities will take place at the TCC, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The family-friendly event will include games, activities, athlete meet-and-greets, try-it sport demonstrations, and events that celebrate sport at all levels.

Some of the demonstrations will include gymnastics and trampoline, taekwondo, rowing, dodgeball, speed skating, stand-up paddling, disc golf, football, curling, ultimate frisbee, swimming, and track and field.

There will be a passport program through which children will be able to get stamps from five different sports in order to be eligible for a prize.

There will be food vendors on site, along with free cake, a climbing wall and an inflatable obstacle course for kids.

Nancy Greene Raine, a former Olympic gold medalist and World Cup winner in downhill skiing, will be at the TCC from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a meet and greet.

A ceremony and cake cutting will take place at noon.

Free swimming and other water sports are to take place from 1 p.m. to 4 pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.
