Weekend of youth soccer kicks off on McArthur Island

The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association is set to play host to seven premier games on McArthur Island this weekend.

KYSA will be home to seven EA Sports B.C. Soccer Premier League games on Saturday. Four of the games will start at noon, with the remaining three to begin at 2 p.m.

Each of the games will feature a team from Thompson-Okanagan FC, a regional program that normally plays its home games in Kelowna. TOFC is the only Interior team in the BCSPL, which was formed two years ago and features eight teams in the highest level of youth soccer competition in B.C.

The noon games will feature TOFC teams — in the U13, U14, U15 and U16 boys divisions — taking on Surrey United SC. At 2 p.m., TOFC’s U12 boys will take on Surrey United FC, while its U12 and U13 girls will take on the Abbotsford-Magnuson Ford Mariners.

The games will be played on McArthur Island Fields 1, 2, 4 or 5.

KYSA also expected to play host to three other BCSPL games featuring TOFC teams, likely on Oct. 22.
