Schools should offer diversity of opinion, experience

Great article in Thursday’s paper! (Education Must Not Be Intolerant, The Daily News, Sept.13) What we really need to ask ourselves as parents is why are we sending our kids to school in the first place?

For myself, I hope school offers a different view of things, more options, opens doors of opportunity, and exposes my children to choices and new experiences. If we become intolerant, forcing endless rules and regulations into the classroom, how can we expect our children to create, to think, to formulate their own opinions? 

Teaching tolerance by example is extremely important.
