Political parties should give detailed platforms

Ken McFadden hits the nail on the head in his letter (Not Enough Being Done for Government Little Guy, The Daily News, Sept 8).

The electorate in this country has often become disgusted with our political process because some in positions of power abuse the trust that has been placed in them. We need to place priority on obtaining government that the country needs rather than government that serves the interests of those with political power or influence.

One step in obtaining this result is to demand our political parties provide in their election campaigns a detailed description of what it is they intend to do if they are elected. Any party which attempts to avoid losing votes by sitting on the fence or by adopting “motherhood” statements during an election campaign rather than explaining specific issues or government positions they believe the country needs should be spurned by the electorate.
