Harper's approval index tells the story

Bill Ligertwood’s headline states, “Does Anyone Care That Harper’s Destroying Us Right Before Our Eyes?” (The Daily News, Sept. 15). This letter from (Ligertwood misses the point) to say the least, because Canada financially has been the leading nation in the world for the last several years, as has been reported in the newspapers and TV.

(Ligertwood) states, “Harper just keeps pushing the buttons with the apparent desire to see some sort of response, ideally for him some kind of terrorist attack on Canadian soil.

“That would put us squarely in the camp of most hated nations and give him even more of an excuse to relieve you and yours of even more of those pesky rights you are just barely hanging on to.”

Thinking of what you just read, consider The Globe and Mail for Sept, 17. The paper’s Page 4 headline states, “Canadians warm to Harper over recess.” The leadership index places Harper’s score at 93.4 per cent, Thomas Mulcair at 48 per cent Bob Rae 38.1 per cent. No need to say anything more.
