RCMP hunt for man facing weapons charge

Passenger in Hickson's car had gunshot wound

    Mathew Kevin Hickson

Kamloops RCMP is on the lookout for a 28-year-old man who first came to their attention while driving around with a gunshot victim and a loaded gun.

A Kamloops provincial court judge issued a warrant for Mathew Kevin Hickson’s arrest on Thursday after he breached conditions of his release.

A resident of Mission, Hickson faced weapons related charges from an Aug. 28 arrest after he was pulled over for driving erratically around Pemberton Terrace and West Columbia Street.

The passenger in the truck he was driving suffered from a gunshot wound to the shoulder and officers at the scene discovered a loaded pistol in the vehicle.

Hickson is described as five feet nine inches tall, 200 lbs, with blond hair and a neck tattoo that reads “Gutes.”

Police are warning the public not to approach Hickson.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS.
