Police looking for drunk who attacked bus driver

Kamloops RCMP are looking for a man in his 50s who, while drunk Thursday afternoon, attacked a City bus driver.

The dust-up occurred at 1:30 p.m. at the bus stop by Valleyview Drive and River Road in Dallas, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said in a press release.

The man, Caucasian unshaven with dark hair, put his dark-coloured mountain bike into the rack on the front of the bus and tried to board.

The driver refused him a ride because of his intoxication and told him to leave the bus. The man refused, so police were called.

By the time they arrived, the man had taken his bike from the rack, walked around to the driver’s side of the bus and began punching the driver through an open window.

The driver tried to grab the man’s arm, and the attempt resulted in two cuts to his own lower left arm.

The suspect took off. He was wearing a white shirt with pink and blue patterns on it.

The only passenger on the bus was unharmed.

Kamloops RCMP ask anyone who has information about the incident to contact Const. Rose Dunsmore at the Kamloops detachment, 828-3000, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
