Abortion debate not ‘laid to rest’ in everyone’s mind

Liberal MP Massimo Pacetti is quoted to have said, “(The abortion) issue has been laid to rest in the minds of so many Canadians.” Apparently he’s astonished that many of us believe this issue has not been laid to rest at all. Rather it’s been stuffed into a hazardous waste container and labelled inhuman.

This debate has only been closed in the hearts of some. Having delivered four healthy babies into this world, I can appreciate the beauty of childbirth and the wonder of a newborn. One of my disappointing pregnancies ended in five hours of mild labour contractions, and a two-inch long baby, with all ten fingers and ten toes that fit snugly in the palm of my hand, but not alive.

That baby was born too early, but a baby nonetheless. Cathy McLeod, I am your constituent. Please open the abortion debate again.
