The TRU WolfPack men’s soccer team secured a four-point weekend thanks to an exciting victory over the UBC-Okanagan Heat at Hillside Stadium on Sunday.
The WolfPack defeated the Heat 1-0 on Sunday, after the teams had tied 1-1 in Kelowna on Saturday. The results have TRU 3-3-2 in the Pacific Western Athletic Association, while UBC-O is 0-4-4.
Oriol Torres played hero for the WolfPack on Sunday, scoring off a scramble in the 81st minute.
On Saturday, the Heat got a late goal from Matthew McHugh to forge a draw. The WolfPack had taken a 1-0 lead on a first-half goal goal from Corey Wallis.
TRU will hit the road on the weekend for matches with the Douglas Royals and Kwantlen Eagles at the Lower Mainland.

The WolfPack and Heat women’s soccer teams tied a pair of matches during a home-and-home weekend.
The teams tied 1-1 in Kamloops on Saturday, before drawing 1-1 in Kelowna on Sunday. TRU (5-1-2) remains first in the conference.
Sunday’s draw was hard-earned for the WolfPack, as it fell behind in the first half. But Vanessa Zilkie knotted things up with a goal in the 78th minute.
Courtney Daly had the WolfPack’s goal on Saturday, but the Heat managed to tie the game in the last 10 minutes.
TRU is off to the coast for matches at Douglas and Kwantlen on Saturday and Sunday.

The WolfPack men’s volleyball team finished its trip to the Kootenays with a split on Saturday.
The WolfPack, which went into Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley and Jaffray for matches with the Calgary Dinos and a pair of college squads, ended the trip with a three-set victory over the College of the Rockies Avalanche and a four-set loss to the Calgary Dinos.
Both Saturday matches were played in Cranbrook.

With the regular season just one week away, TRU’s hockey team lost a pair of games at the exhibition SAIT Eye Opener Tournament in Calgary.
The WolfPack opened the tournament with a 6-2 loss to the senior Innisfail Eagles, before falling 4-3 in double overtime to the host SAIT Trojans on Saturday.
Blake Moyles and Kevin Lourens had the goals in the opener, in which Adrien Hervillard and Shane Mainprize split the goaltending.
On Saturday, John Bolka scored two goals and Scott Bollefer singled. Mainprize and Wall shared the goaltending duties.
The WolfPack will head to Langley on Saturday to play Trinity Western in both teams’ B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League opener. TRU’s first home game will be Oct. 12, when Victoria comes to Memorial Arena.
