Domtar Corp. and the union representing about 350 unionized workers were back at the bargaining table Tuesday, following a overwhelming strike vote to back demands.
Workers voted 99.6 per cent against a company offer and in favour of a strike.
Murray Matheson, president of Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Local 10b, said the union has not served strike notice and is back to bargaining.
Two days of talks are planned.
Matheson declined to provide the turnout for three voting sessions, instead calling it "huge."
B.C.'s unionized pulp sector is targeting a deal made with Canadian Forest Products in northern B.C. as its "pattern" deal. The union is seeking to bring the pattern to the Domtar operation in Kamloops.
The Canfor deal provides 7.5 per cent wage increase over five years, with the first two years offering no wage hikes.
The deal for Domtar workers in Kamloops expired in April.
