Rescue crews attend to a flipped dump truck Monday evening at the Highway 1 exit to Lafarge.
Jaws of life were used to pry open a dump truck and pull out the 53-year-old driver from Westwold after a crash at the Highway 1 exit to Lafarge.
Just before 8 p.m. Monday night, the truck and trailer rolled onto its side and sustained significant damage after witnesses reported seeing it drift off the road and into the ditch.
He was taken to hospital with head trauma and several cuts.
The man was drinking and driving, according to Staff Sgt. Grant Learned. Police will determine whether he was over the legal limit through blood samples taken in hospital once a warrant is issued.
