    Minor Hockey: Stankoven plays big for Nailers

    BANTAM TIER 2

    Kamloops lost 6-2 to the Westside Warriors on Saturday.

    Stefan Nesci and Mac Alberts each had a goal and an assist for Kamloops.

    ATOM DEVELOPMENT

    Logan Stankoven had a big weekend as the Western Roofing Nailers hammered two weekend opponents.

    Stankoven scored three goals as the Nailers smoked West Kelowna 7-2 on Saturday. Adam Niles backstopped the victory, and Brendan Kirschner, Jacob Proulx, Nolan Virgo and Harrison Ewert also had goals.

    On Sunday, Kamloops pounded Merritt 12-2. Stankoven had four goals as two assists, as did Kirschner. Ewert, Virgo, Proulx and Matthew Mariona had the other goals for the Nailers. Niles and Austin Krug split the goaltending.

    The Scotiabank Bandits opened the OMAHA regular season with a 6-3 victory over Kelowna No. 1 on Saturday at Valleyview Arena.

    Justin Vinterlik scored twice to lead the Bandits, and Keegan Fletcher picked up two assists. The Bandits got singles from Tyson Galloway, Brendan Hunchak, Cole Senum and Branden Toye. Bailey Monteith and Zach Kohorst shared the goaltending victory. Senum was rewarded with the hardest-working player hardhat.

    On Sunday, the Bandits edged their cross-town rivals, 7 Points Millwork, 4-3 in exhibition play at Memorial Arena.

    Fletcher, Galloway, Reagan Milburn and Aidan Sutter scored to pace the Bandits in support of winning netminder Kohorst. The hardest-working player hardhat went to Galloway.

    Jarrod Semchuk, Luke Bateman and Tristan Allen replied for 7 Points, which went with Jared Sucro in net.

    BANTAM TIER 1

    The Jardine’s Blazers dropped a 4-1 decision to Pursuit of Excellence on Saturday.

    Rob Johnson scored for the Blazers, who had Spencer Eschyschyn in goal.

    BANTAM  TIER 3

    The North Kamloops Lions played two games in Revelstoke on the weekend, tying one and winning the other.
    Zac Austin, Garrett Kellington and Wyatt Brooks scored in a 3-3 tie. Dalton Johnston was in goal.

    The Lions won the next game 5-3, getting goals from Ethan Karsten, Lucas Lott, Harrison Rosch, Brooks and McCoy Pearce. Nicolas Boehm was in goal.
