Non-profit organizations have until Nov. 13 to apply to the City for next year’s social planning grants.
The City sets aside $70,000 a year for grants to be allocated to non-profit groups that provide a range of services to the community.
The grants are given out at the beginning of every year. This round of applications is for early 2013.
The social planning council gives recommendations on applications and City staff go through to ensure each meets the criteria.
Just because a group receives a grant one year, doesn’t mean it will automatically get a grant the next year. Applications are considered year by year.
Among the requirements is that the organization must strengthen and enhance the community’s well being, promote volunteering, address social concerns and/or promote cultural understanding.
More information and application forms are available online at www.kamloops.ca/socialdevelopment, under social planning grants.
