Forward Brendan Ranford is on his way back to the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers after being released by the Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
Ranford, 20, was one of 14 players who were either reassigned or released by the AHL’s Bulldogs, who are holding their camp in Sherbrooke, Que. Ranford, a free-agent invite, was released outright.
The Edmonton native is on his way back to Kamloops, and is expected to be available to play in the Blazers’ Friday home game against the Seattle Thunderbirds. That game, to be played at Interior Savings Centre, will start at 7 p.m.
Ranford, who has one goal in two games with Kamloops this season, originally was invited to try out for the Montreal Canadiens but, due to the NHL lockout, was invited to try out for their farm team instead.
