On Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. as we were driving up Columbia Street, we were startled by a young man travelling down our lane of traffic on a skateboard (no helmet, no brains).
He jumped off the skateboard, scooped up his board then proceeded to run down the centre median. What in the world was he thinking?
We also see young skateboarders attempting to travel down Springhill Drive! How do we get it across to these people how dangerous this activity is on our city streets?
Here’s another observation — when turning left onto Summit Drive from Springhill Drive, almost all the drivers persist in turning immediately into the curb lane, rather than the inside lane.
So when we are in front of them and follow the rules of the road by going into the left lane first, then signal our intent to go into the right lane, we have to be extra careful. The car behind us is not only tailgating but has already travelled into that lane! These incidents as well as the countless drivers who still persist in running red lights, rolling through stop signs, driving at night without lights, etc., make us shake our heads!
