Police hunt young attacker who used steel pipe

Teen hit on the head while walking on Tranquille

A 17-year-old NorKam student is nursing a serious goose egg after being whacked on the forehead by a youth wielding a steel pipe Thursday morning.

Kamloops RCMP said the teen was walking along Tranquille Road at 8:15 a.m. when he was approached b a younger boy, estimated to be 12 to 14 years old, who walked up to him without saying a word.

The boy pulled out a piece of pipe about half a metre long and hit the older teen, who was stunned and fell into an adjacent fence, Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said in a press release.

The suspect took off toward 12th Street, leaving his victim reeling but conscious.

The NorKam student walked to school and reported what occurred. His parents took him to Royal Inland Hospital.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian boy, five foot three, with blondish to light brown hair.

RCMP are asking anyone who might have seen what occurred, possibly while driving by, to call and provide information to Const. Wilkinson at 828-3000 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
