    ZAP! BANG! KAPOW! The TNRD Library System's Kamloops Library, in partnership with High Octane Comics, hosts its first ever Mini Comic-Con. The event starts at 2 p.m., features an appearance by a well-established comic-book artist, as well as fun art and costume contests that offer prizes.

    AN ERA OF DISCONTENT: Art as Occupation, the Kamloops Art Galleries final exhibit of 2012, begins Friday, Oct. 12 with a curator's tour from 5:30 t0 6:30 p.m. The show runs from Oct. 13 until Dec. 31. A roundtable discussion on the relationship between art and democracy takes place Oct. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    WORLD-ENDING SEXINESS is on display when the Kamloops Burlesque monthly showcase hits The Blue Grotto on Thursday, Oct. 11 for a Post Apocalyptic Show. The 19 and older show begins at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 at the door. Everyone is encouraged to dress in post-apocalyptic clothing.

    LET'S DANCE, a fun night of live music and dance sponsored by the Thompson Valley Activity and Social Club, takes place Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Ukrainian Hall at 725 York St. Admission is $10 and doors open at 8 p.m. Music is performed by Copper Creek.     THE KAMLOOPS SHRINER'S host a Booster Party on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Kamloops Convention Centre. Tickets are $125 a couple an include dinner, a live band and cash prized.     FROM CASTLE TO CONCERT HALL, a presentation of the Chamber Musicians of takes place at the Old Courthouse Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Enjoy a musical journey from medieval duets to modern love songs. Candlelight, historic ambience, and costumes round out the evening. Join soprano Chris Krushel, baritone Jim Floris, and pianist Lori Thompson. Admission is by donation. Proceeds go to Boogie the Bridge.

    THE REEL CHANGE Sustainability Film Fest comes to town Oct. 19 and 20 with nine award-winning documentaries about a wide range of sustainability topics. The event kicks off on the Friday at the Commodore from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A two-hour Farming in the City workshop takes place on the Saturday at The Old Courthouse from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $15.     UPCYCLE From Trash to Treasure continues until Oct. 31 at the Old Courthouse Gallery, 7 West Seymour. This explores the creative reuse and repurpose of reclaimed materials by Karen Hanna.     CALLING ALL ARTISTIC CHILDREN: if your child is between the ages of five and nine and loves creating visual, theatre, dance or musical art, the Kamloops Arts Council would like to hear from you. A short documentary will be shot over four years tracking the growth of a group of young artists who attend the annual Children's Art Festival.
