Police investigate pellet gun drive-by shooting spree

Kamloops RCMP is on the lookout for vandals who used pellet guns to do damage during drive-by shootings overnight on Sunday.

At around 12:30 p.m., police received calls of pellet gunshots being fired out of a vehicle, breaking several windows in homes and vehicles in Sahali.

A house on Summit Drive had its living room windows shot at and three vehicles on Gleneagles, Whistler Drive and Robson Drive reported having two windows shot out each, according to RCMP Staff Sgt. Fran Bethell.

Monday morning, police found a motorhome and another vehicle that had its windows shot out.

Although a resident reported hearing a vehicle, no eyewitnesses came forward, said Bethell.

"We did some patrols, we were not able to locate any suspects. No one that we found yet witnessed any of the damage."

Police believe the same suspects were involved in each incident given the proximity of the crimes.

Although no one was hurt during the vandalism spree, it could have turned out differently, said Bethell.

"Pellet guns can do damage if they hit someone in the wrong area like the face, so it's certainly a dangerous practice to be driving around shooting from a vehicle."

Police are asking anyone who knows anything about the vandalism to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
