A couple was left shaken after opening their North Kamloops apartment door to two masked men Wednesday night.
At around 9:30 p.m., a 19-year-old woman and her 20-year-old boyfriend were in their basement suite in the 200 block of Baker Avenue when a knock prompted the woman to open the door.
That’s when she saw two men wearing different-coloured nylon-type wrestling masks tightly fit over their faces, black clothing and black hoodies.
One man, who was holding something the victim believed to be a 12-inch long weapon, took a few steps into the suite.
One suspect twice called out the name of the 20-year-old man living there and asked where the money was. The woman screamed for her father, who lives upstairs, and the two men quickly fled the scene.
No threats were made, no one was hurt and nothing was taken during the attempted robbery.
Police responded quickly to a 911 call but weren’t able to track down the suspects. They’re also unsure why that particular home was targeted.
Other than the clothing, suspects were described as thinly built, possibly First Nations, with one being about five feet 10 inches tall and the second one being shorter.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has information about this crime is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.
