A South Shore park once targeted for low-income housing will be the site of a community celebration Sunday with an official grand opening and ribbon cutting.
The event takes place at Cowan Street Park from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. City Coun. Marg Spina and other councillors will be in attendance, along with members of the Sagebrush Neighbourhood Association who fought to keep the greenspace and old tennis courts from being rezoned.
There will be hamburgers and hotdogs to eat and games of street hockey to occupy the children. Speeches are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
