    Storm has perfect KIJHL weekend

The Kamloops Storm finished a perfect KIJHL road trip with an 8-6 victory over the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Sunday.

The Storm (6-2-0-2) had beaten the host Spokane Braves 6-0 on Friday and defeated the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 2-1 in Fruitvale on Saturday.

Kamloops is to play the Heat in Chase on Tuesday, 7 p.m., before returning home for a Saturday game against the Sicamous Eagles at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Storm enjoyed a 5-1 lead in the first period yesterday, but Grand Forks had tied the game by the third period.

Stefan Wood, Ian Chrystal and Taylor Ward, into an empty net, had Kamloops’ goals in the third period. Josh Rasmussen, Daniel Buchanan, Jared Anderson, Wood and Ryan Skinner scored for the Storm in the first.
Ty Hamer-Jackson started for the Storm, but was replaced in the second period by Marcus Beesley.

Beesley also was in goal Saturday, as the Storm held on after Buchanan scored to make it 2-1 in the second period. Austin Braid had the Storm’s other goal, in the first period.

The Heat, meanwhile, lost 4-0 to the Grizzlies in Revelstoke on Saturday.

Dylan Ossman, with two, Spencer Samuel and Devon Hascarl scored for Revelstoke, and Conrad McMillan made 34 saves. Jacob Mattes made 29 saves for Chase.

After Tuesday’s game with Kamloops, the Heat is off to Sicamous for a game with the Eagles on Friday.

The Storm is third in the Doug Birks Division, tied with the Revelstoke Grizzlies (6-4-1-1), one point behind Sicamous (6-1-1-2) and three behind the first-place Okanagan Knights (8-2-0-1). The Heat is fifth, at 3-7-0-1.
