Thank you James Bilbey for an excellent letter (No Comparisons Possible Between Ajax And Superstore, The Daily News , Oct. 10). Ajax has potential benefits (jobs and tax revenue) and potential costs (health effects).
The public needs to be aware of the incentives for decision makers and to make certain they understand that they will be held accountable for decisions that do not properly balance benefits against costs.
If decision makers look primarily at the potential benefits because they think that best serves their own self-interest and the costs turn out to have been swept under the rug, those responsible need to be held accountable.
