Here we go again. I was listening to the Blazer game from Edmonton last evening. Again the Blazers were subjected to shoddy officiating. There is no common sense applied by officials when they call penalties in such a lopsided fashion.
Having played this game for over 50 years myself I know that officials would normally call penalties in a more balanced fashion.
After all, there are two teams out there and neither of them are angels and in spite of their discipline they cannot avoid penalties considering the speed and intensity of the game at the WHL level.
As I listened to the broadcast description of the play, it became obvious that the officials were not calling penalties against the Oil Kings that appeared to be deserved. Was it intentional?
I would hate to think so, but as a season ticket holder I have seen many games at ISC where the officiating left everyone shaking their heads. The league needs to review the tapes and ensure that the officials are questioned on their performance.
Sure, the Blazers amazingly pulled this game out, a credit to their determination, but no thanks to the way the game was officiated.
