Apparently, democracy is negated when you get into a swimming pool in Kamloops. The TCC pool, in an apparent need to maximize space for lesson learners in its leisure pool, has roped off a significant area of the pool to users who aren’t taking part in lessons, limiting the space available to paying customers who simply want to enjoy the pool with their children.
After roping off the area, lifeguards who are teaching lessons go beyond it into the remaining available space. Far be it from me to prevent the orderly instruction of swimming basics but as a taxpayer, am I not entitled to use of the entire pool? This is one instance where the needs of the many are being outweighed by the needs of the few.
