The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death of a woman at a home on the Tk'emlups First Nations reserve.
At around 9:12 p.m. on Saturday, the Kamloops RCMP and BC Ambulance Services responded to a 911 call to a home on the reserve. Police and ambulance attendants found an adult woman dead in the home.
A news release stated investigators believe the death is suspicious and related to an incident of domestic violence. An adult male known to the woman was taken into custody at the time of police attendance.
Police did not disclose where on the reserve the death occurred or how the woman died, but Southeastern District spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk suggested initial reports of a stabbing at Shuswap Road were wrong.
The man is in police custody and formal charges have not been laid.
