    Minor Hockey: Jardine's Blazers win Darcy Robinson tourney

    PEEWEE TIER 1

    For the second year in a row, the Jardine’s Blazers are the champions of the Darcy Robinson Memorial Tournament, which was held at Memorial Arena on the weekend.

    The Blazers rolled through the round-robin, beating Ridge Meadows 7-3, South Delta 7-0 and Beaumont, Alta., 6-3. In a semifinal, Kamloops beat Langley 2-0, setting up a meeting with Beaumont in the final.

    The visitors took a 2-0 lead into the third period of the final, but Kamloops fought back and won 5-3.

    ATOM RECREATIONAL

    Hunter Coleman, Zac Banks and Jacob Spencer each scored two goals as the Thunder beat the Titans 10-4 on Saturday.

    Nolan Austin, Raymond Shockey, Jared Flodstrom and Tristan Hunt also scored for the Thunder, which had Kiel Schriml in goal.

    Nathan Underhill and Jameson Rende each scored twice in support of Titans goaltender Isaac Bean.

    Maxwell Hinkson had three goals as the Roughnecks skated past the Warriors 8-5 on Saturday.

    Josh Glover had a goal and two assists for the Roughnecks, and Domenico Comita, Ben Smith, Keegan Leblanc and Xander Denis each scored once. Sam Fawcett was the winning goaltender.

    Joey McKinnon started in goal for the Warriors, who got two goals from Jacob Haines and singles from Connor Defoe, Liam Campbell and Justin Baker.

    The Ice Kings scored three third-period goals but the Oilers held on to win 4-3 at Valleyview Arena on Saturday.

    Kaedyn Boyt backstopped the Oilers, who got first-period goals from Cohen Freeze and Cameron Ryles and third-period scores from Jackson Diehl and Liam Edstrom.

    Austin Burke, Dexter Williams and Olen Gelineau scored for the Ice Kings, who had Hayden Buttazoni in goal.

    The Blazers and Hurricanes tied 3-3 on Sunday.

    Connor Kennedy scored twice and Braidon Clark also tallied for the Blazers. Brady Pawlachuk played goal for the Blazers, whose MVP was Stran Smith.

    Eric Crawford, with two, and Dakota Reid had the goals for the Hurricanes, who had Ryerson Palmer in goal.

    Team 6 scored a 7-5 victory over Team 3.

    Ryan Mitchell, Patrick Bennett and Tristan Coetzer, with two apiece, and Conlin Erichuk scored for Team 6, which had Samuel Lewis in goal.

    Tyler Fernie, with three, Michael Degasso and Bryce Bertuzzi scored for Team 3, which gave the goaltending start to Bryton Neufeld.

    Elessio Louvra and Ethan Gremaud each scored three goals as the Snipers beat the Vipers 10-7.

    Brian Fraser and Brendan Bubela had two goals apiece for the Vipers.

    BANTAM TIER 2

    Matthew Hicketts posted the shutout as the Kamloops Predators edged Trail, 1-0.

    Michael Van Unen had the game’s only goal.

    BANTAM RECREATIONAL

    Nick Robins scored a pair of third-period goals to lead the Big-O Tire Eagles past the Jets 3-1 on Saturday.
    Robins’ second goal was a shorthanded marker. Zach Rachynski also scored for the Eagles, who had Jesse Stahl in goal.

    The Jets got a goal from Brandon Frenks and goaltending from Emma Gottfriedson.

    Carter Eschyschyn and Preston Guerra-Ibbetson each scored two goals to lead the Northern Trailer Oilers to a 6-5 victory over the Rockets on Sunday.

    Dawson Reid and Kyle McIlwain also scored in the victory, and Mathew O’Laney had two assists.
    Scott Poelzer and Bryan Caillier split the goaltending for the Oilers.

    Pacific Thompson scored twice for the Rockets, who had Sage Deneault in goal.

    PEEWEE TIER 2

    Eric Marasco came on as an extra attacker and scored the tying goal as the Kamloops Player’s Bench Raiders and the Salmon Arm Silvertips played to a 4-4 draw on Sunday.

    Tyson Gayfer, Evan Vinterlik and Cole Howaniec also scored for the Raiders, who had Ethan Langenegger in goal.

    PEEWEE RECREATIONAL

    Jacob Stewart’s three goals and Jonah Saemerow’s three assists helped the Brock Auto Centre Predators to a 6-4 victory over the Steelheads on Sunday.

    Kai Farenholtz, Jordon Calibaba and Nolan Mongey scored the Preds’ other goals, and Ryan Clark was the winning goaltender.

    Corden Davidson, with two, Andrew Warner and Ethan Crawford scored for the Steelheads. Summit Krause was the Steelheads’ goaltender.

    The Steelheads had beaten Team 9, 8-4. Team 9 got two goals from Ryan Anderson, singles from Keegan Ludwig-Konrad and Luigi Comita and goaltending from Birch Mierau.

    Krause was in goal for the Steelheads, Davidson scored twice and Warner singled. Further information was unavailable.

    Keaton Dell scored four goals but it wasn’t enough as the Mini-Blazers lost 9-6 to Team 1 on Sunday.

    Team 1 was paced by Josh Olynyk, who scored three goals. Victor Church was the winning goaltender, and Garrick Cassidy, Austin Chrystall, Tyson Dmyterko, Preston Marcoux, Hudson Irvine and Ben Pearce had the other Team 1 goals.

    A.J. McInnis and Riley Moore had the other goals for the Blazers, who had Kieran Outerbridge in goal.

    Grayden Baker scored three goals and Evan Crowe tallied twice as the Team 5 Thunderbirds dumped Team 2, 8-2 on Saturday.

    Jordan Devries, Jesse Kotani and Jarod Pringle also scored for the T-Birds, and Matthew Giroux was the winning goaltender.

    Jamie Daniels and Connor Humphrey scored for Team 2, which had Joshua Harris in goal.

    The Rampage and Titans tied 2-2 on the weekend.

    Deekan Ludwig-Konrad and Yvonne Manwaring scored for the Titans, who had Elijah Joy in goal.

    Chistopher Penner and Sebastian Ouimet had goals for the Rampage in support of goaltender Birch Mierau.

    FEMALE BANTAM

    The Kamloops Mystix won their first league game of the season 3-2, over the visiting Prince George Cougars.

    Kendall Fitzgerald scored a pair of third-period goals for Kamloops, after MaKenna Fitzgerald had opened the scoring in the first. Sydney Carter was the winning goaltender.

    On Sunday, the Mystix lost 6-0 to Salmon Arm’s female midget team. Ashlynn Neurauter was Kamloops’ goaltender.

    PEEWEE TIER 3

    Brandon Gremaud had back-to-back three-point games as the North Kamloops Lions won a pair of weekend games.

    Gremaud had three assists as the Lions beat the Vernon Rattlers 8-0 on Saturday. Nathan Nesci posted the shutout, and Brendan Mucha scored two goals.

    Hunter Dairon, Corson Nordick, Haden Nordick, Benjamin Ward, Josh Bymoen and Lane Grunerud also scored for the Lions.

    On Sunday, Gremaud and Ward each had two goals and an assist and Dairon, Corson Nordick and Kaden Dempsey each scored twice as the Lions pounded Salmon Arm, 12-2. Haden Nordick and Bymoen had the other Kamloops goals, and Grunerud pitched in three assists in support of winning goaltender Taylor Kaban.

    ATOM DEVELOPMENT

    The 7 Point Millworks Ice Hawks won gold at the Penticton Fall Classic Hockey Tournament on the weekend.
    The Ice Hawks opened with a 6-3 victory over the Kelowna Capitals, with MVP Ashton Taylor scoring twice.

    Jackson Fitzgerald, Evan Clark, Jakob Sherwood and Jarrod Semchuk also scored in the victory, and Kimberley Davidson was the winning goaltender.

    Taylor and MVP Jaden Zunti each scored two goals as the Ice Hawks rolled past Semiahmoo 8-4. Fitzgerald, Semchuk, Tristan Allen and Luke Bateman also scored in support of goaltender Jared Sucro.

    Harjun Serown scored four goals and was named MVP as Kamloops pounded Trail 11-3. Semchuk, Taylor and Zunti each scored two goals, and Evan Clark and Bateman had two assists apiece.

    Davidson and Sucro split the goaltending.

    The Ice Hawks fell 4-3 to Penticton, with Allen, Taylor and Semchuk scoring goals and Sucro in goal for the loss.

    Kamloops crossed over in a semifinal and beat Vancouver Arbutus, 5-4. Semchuk and MVP Parker Erickson had two goals apiece, with Bateman’s single standing up as the game-winner. Sherwood had two assists and Davidson was the winning goaltender.

    Bateman was the MVP of the final, in which the Ice Hawks edged the Capitals 2-1. Zunti and Semchuk scored the goals and Sucro backstopped the victory.

    Bateman was tournament MVP, with Allen named top defenceman, Taylor the top forward and Sucro the top goaltender.

    The Vernon Venom blanked the Kamloops Scotiabank Bandits 4-0 on Sunday at McArthur Island.

    Michael Hutchison won the Bandits’ hardest-working player hardhat. Netminder Bailey Monteith was tagged with the loss, but not before making several key saves to keep the Bandits within striking distance for much of the game.

    BANTAM TIER 1

    The Jardine’s Blazers lost in the final of a weekend tournament in Kelowna.

    Kamloops opened with a 4-2 loss to the Calgary Royals. Alexander Buchanan and Dario Piva scored the goals, and Spencer Eschyschyn was in goal for the loss.

    The Blazers bounced back to beat Prince George, 6-2. Austen McKean had two goals, with Tre Dupilka-Sales, Rob Johnson, Piva and Buchanan also scoring. Daniel Toews was the winning goaltender, and Michael Fidanza had two assists.

    In their third game, the Blazers beat South Delta, 5-3.

    Adam Toor had three assists, Fidanza had two helpers and Dupilka-Sales, Tyler Ward, Johnson and Piva scored goals. Eschyschyn was the winning goaltender.

    Kamloops dumped host Kelowna 5-1 in a semifinal, with Piva scoring two goals and Toews backstopping the victory. Fidanza, Brendan Semchuk and Reade Bentz had the other goals.

    The Blazers ended up losing 9-1 to Calgary in the championship final.

    Johnson had the goal.

    MIDGET TIER 1

    The North Kamloops Lions gave up a pair of late goals in a 4-3 loss to Vernon on Friday.

    Jacob Coelho scored twice for the Lions, and Monty Chisholm also scored. Nolan Munden was in goal for Kamloops.

    PEEWEE TIER 4

    The Tomahawks finished third at a tournament in Revelstoke.

    Kamloops opened with a 2-1 loss to the Chase Broncos. Jacob Pilon scored for the Tomahawks, whose goaltender, Kaleb Virgo, was MVP.

    The Tomahawks went on to tie Lake Bonavista 1-1. Pilon scored again in support of goaltender Justin Mitchell, and Skye Connors was MVP.

    Jayden Russel scored twice and was named MVP as Kamloops beat the Langley Eagles, 5-3. Connors also had two goals, Adam Gammel singled and Pilon had two assists in support of Virgo.

    Kamloops finished the tournament with a 6-6 tie with the Revelstoke Grizzlies. Russel and MVP Josh Bishop each scored two goals, Connors and Gammel each scored once and Jayden Grant and Zach Bachand each helped out with two assists.

    Mitchell was in goal for the Tomahawks.

    BANTAM TIER 3

    The North Kamloops Lions won twice on the weekend, beating Vernon’s Tier 2 side, 3-1, and Kelowna, 7-0.
    Conan Poss, Zac Austin and Parker Matheson scored for the Lions against Vernon, while Dalton Johnston got the goaltending victory.

    In an exhibition game against Kelowna’s Team 4, Wyatt Brook scored three times for the Lions, while Matheson had a pair. McCoy Pearce and Garrett Kellington also scored. Nicolas Boehm recorded the shutout.

    MIDGET RECREATIONAL

    Riley Polacik scored three times as Team 10 dumped Team 2, 11-5, at Brock Arena on Thursday.

    Jake Latin added two goals and two assists for the winners, while Brian Rockvam also scored twice. Brendan Ruttan, Shane Pratt, Tyson Johnston and Steven Scheifele also scored for Team 10. Pratt also had two assists. Derek Lapierre and Jake Birkland shared the goaltending for the winners.

    Team 2 got two goals from Jordan Bigham and singles from Jordan Kealty and Colton McChan. The other scorer’s name was unavailable. Duncan MacDonald had two assists. Kaleb Priestlay and Caelen Halling handled the goaltending.
