    Roses & Thorns

Turkey-sized roses from Diana Nikolic to Steve Hughes and the guys working the late shift at the bus station on the Friday before the Thanksgiving long weekend. "Steve solved a time-sensitive issue by not only locating a package that was in transit, but also arranging for its immediate after-hours delivery. His steady
demeanor, expertise and commitment to help are sincerely appreciated and will be long remembered. Steve, you saved Thanksgiving!"

Heart-sized maternal roses from Bep Crawford to a young mother she watched while looking at greeting cards in a store on Oct. 18. The woman's son, about five or six years old, was crying. "The little boy was upset and really heartbroken and sobbing. The wise young mother told her son 'You just stay here looking at the wall until you can stop crying.' She stepped back about two feet and knelt so she would be eye level with her son, and waited patiently with a soft, kind voice talking to him. The boy kept saying 'Mommy I'm not crying any more,' but he really still was. Mom answered ' No, son, you didn't stop yet.' Well, it only took about one minute and he really did stop and told his mom, 'I'm not crying any more mom,' so she said 'Come here then,' and gave him a big hug and kiss and told him what a good boy he was. When they happily walked away, hand in hand, I heard mom say something about ice cream. Of course, the sweet little boy was all smiles. I looked for them after. I wanted to tell the lady what a wonderful job she was doing raising her son, but I lost them. I'm sure that boy will grow up to be a fine young man who everyone will be very proud of. That young mother deserves a store full of roses. I'm sorry I missed them and hope she will read this and perhaps read it to her son."

YouTube roses from the Lehto family to Sandy Abraham and Dianne Kerr for doing a great job on their video, Is This the Future of Kamloops? that outlined the concerns of many citizens about the proposed Ajax mine.

Purrfect roses from Carrie to Ken Nicholls of Riplees Ranch "for generously paying for an injured stray kitten's vet visit. This kind-hearted man loves animals. Thank you."
