It took a shootout but the Kamloops Blazers wrote themselves into the franchise record book on Tuesday night.
Centre Colin Smith scored the only goal of a shootout to give the Blazers a 3-2 WHL victory over the Silvertips in Everett.
It was the Blazers' 14th consecutive victory and that is a franchise record. The Blazers of 1986-87 first set the 13-game record and it was equalled by the 1989-90 edition of the team.
Tuesday night, Everett took a 1-0 lead at 9:12 of the first period when Ryan Harrison scored on a power play.
Right-winger JC Lipon pulled the Blazers even at 9:48 of the third period, only to have Carson Stadnyk put Everett back in front just 1:05 later.
Kamloops left-winger Chase Souto forced overtime with a goal at 14:39.
Kamloops goaltender Cole Cheveldave stopped 19 shots through overtime and wasn't beaten by any of Everett's three shooters in the shootout as he ran his record to 11-0-0.
The Blazers, with a 16-0-1 record, remain the only one of the Canadian Hockey League's 60 teams not have lost a game in regulation time.
