The Kamloops Child Development Centre located in North Kamloops is entered in a contest to win $100,000 to build a “nature’s playground” in order for children to be explore and learn through nature.
Remember back before computers, manufactured toys and structured play? Kids played in the forests, on the rocks, even building forts out of tumbleweeds.
This is one of those causes I think all of Kamloops should get behind, by supporting the efforts of staff, parents and children.
They just need to get the word out! KCDC is not asking for money, they’re merely asking the people of Kamloops to register at avivacommunityfund.org and vote for the nature’s playground. The most votes, wins the grant! KCDC have made it through the first round of voting and need your help and the help of the people of Kamloops to see them through the second round and on to the third and final round.
I no longer live in Kamloops but still have deep roots in the community and care greatly for its citizens and especially for the future of its children.
I believe that this type of playground will be invaluable to children’s growth and development not to mention how fun and healthy it is to play outdoors. Thank you for your time and hopefully for your votes.
